Summsen for deaf-and-blind people
Reading and writing text via different vibrations felt
at computer stereo speakers
|
|
Turn the volume at the PC mixer and the speakers to full volume
so that the vibrations are feelable optimally.
When having other feeling problems, I recommend subwoofers or very large speakers,
e.g. also of instrument amplifiers. The membrane of the speaker should be directly
feelable with the finger/hand.

Features:
- Reading and writing of text via vibrations
- The vibrations are generated by different MIDI instrument sounds
- Reading the text from the current text cursor position on
- Text input possible via the keyboard - every typed character can be
also felt via vibrations
- Two sample profiles [a profile is an assignment of MIDI instruments
to characters] are supplied (in one of them,
only three MIDI instruments are used)
- Custom profiles can be created by defining MIDI instruments
and length of the MIDI sounds for every character
- By using several MIDI
instruments, characters can be read in shorter time than morse code
- Training mode to learn the vibrations
- New in version 1.1:
- Automatic reading of text which was copied into the clipboard - this is an
open interface for script programmers (here you can find additional
useful programs which use or support this feature)
- Product recognition via barcodes with the program

This is especially suitable for deaf-and-blind people who are not
able to use Braille, also due to financial reasons.
The idea for this program is a further development of the
program Barcode Keyboards for deaf-and-blind people by my
brother David under
http://www.tichnut.de/deafblind-keyboards/index-en.html
I am very thankful to David.
The program can be downloaded free of charge at here.
Quick use:
After the first start, a text can be entered in the Summsen Editor,
then place the text cursor at the beginning of the text and press the
F2 key or click on "Read!".
Here is another free of charge program (a game)
for deaf-and-blind people
System requirements: Windows 11, stereo speakers
whose membrane can be felt
